Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 6, 2026

The short version: TaxStub never connects to your bank. We don't know your name or email. Your receipts and entries are stored under an anonymous ID, used only to run the app, never sold, and deletable by you at any time.

Who we are

TaxStub is an iOS expense-tracking app operated by Serkan Coşkun (sole proprietor). Contact: taxstubapp@gmail.com.

What we collect

Anonymous account ID. The app creates a random identifier on your device. We do not collect your name, email address, or phone number, and there is no sign-up.
Receipt images. Photos you scan are uploaded to and stored on our database provider (Supabase) so your records stay available and audit-ready.
Entries you create. Merchants, amounts, dates, categories, mileage, income figures, and your tax-profile choices (work type, income band, estimated rate).
Subscription status. Purchases are processed by Apple. Our subscription provider (RevenueCat) receives an anonymous identifier and purchase state so we can unlock Pro features. We never see your payment details.

What we never collect

No bank logins, no bank or card account connections, no credit data.
No advertising identifiers and no cross-app tracking. TaxStub contains no ads.
No contacts, no location, no background data collection.

How receipt scanning works

When you scan a receipt, the image is sent to our server function, which passes it to OpenAI's API to extract the merchant, date, total, and a suggested category. OpenAI processes the image to provide this result; per OpenAI's API policy, API data is not used to train their models. The extracted text is stored with your entry.

How we use data

Only to operate TaxStub: storing your ledger, generating your reports and exports, calculating estimates, and managing your subscription. We do not sell data, we do not share it with advertisers, and we do not use it for marketing.

Service providers

Supabase (database & storage, hosted in the United States), OpenAI (receipt text extraction), RevenueCat (subscription management), Apple (payments). Each receives only what is necessary for its function.

Data retention & deletion

Your data is kept while you use the app. You can permanently delete everything at any time in Settings → Delete all data, which removes your entries, receipt images, and settings from our servers. Deleting the app alone does not delete server data — use the in-app deletion first if you want a full wipe.

Children

TaxStub is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new effective date.
